Britain's Best Spa’s

Spa’s have become a regular indulgence for people to restore their physical and mental well-being, but with so many to choose from, selecting the best can give you a headache. With Britain being at the forefront of the news this year, I pick my top three spa’s around England to make your decision simple, so that relaxation comes naturally.

BEST FOR: A little indulgence - KuBu Spa: Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. www.kubuspa.com

This urban day spa is a secret little haven of unique and authentic relaxation. Peace and tranquillity are paramount here with a selection of Spa Rituals and indulgences combining eastern philosophy with 21st century western culture. At some day spas struggle to compete without a pool area, but KuBu’sSpa experience is one like no other. Decorated to a very high standard, KuBu is modern and luxurious without being pretentious. Upon arrival we were provided with sumptuous robes and slippers for the ultimate in comfort, before being given the opportunity to unwind in the sublime relaxation suite. This calming, therapeutic and relaxed environment is an unexpected addition, which only serves to enhance KuBu’s already customer lead experience.

A personal highlight was that I was offered to choose my treatment music and favourite massage oil for use within my treatment. It is the little touches here and the attention to detail, which boost the overall experience. I can see KuBu as the ideal destination for an array of occasions including birthdays, hen parties, valentines and Christmas gifts due to the Ritual suite dual treatment room. I chose to have the KuBu Spa Indulgence Package, which began with a soothing flower petal foot soak and foot massage which instantly help me to unwind, followed by a therapeutic back, neck and shoulder aromatherapy massage using an exclusively created blend of essential oils which worked out all my knots of tension. The treatment continued with an Elemis Pro-Collagen Facial, after which my skin felt plumped up and dewy for days afterwards. My friend having never visited a Spa before said ‘The KuBu Spa treatment rooms were very calming with light music playing and the therapists were extremely informative and explained things well. I felt thoroughly relaxed throughout my treatment. It was a really relaxing and enjoyable experience and my skin felt and looked amazing after.’

KuBu Spa

The KuBu Spa Team consists of highly experienced therapists whose aim is to provide a unique customer journey and a personally tailored treatment for each and every client. It is clear each therapist genuinely cares for each customer. Another plus for me is that KuBu offers Spa keen ‘teens,’ the opportunity to choose from a range of expert age appropriate treatments tailored towards giving younger skin the best possible introduction to a healthy regime, definitely key in my opinion. It doesn’t surprise me that KuBu has become a haven for celebrities too due to it’s discreet nature, many choosing to pamper themselves with the Spa’s Signature Ritual. The glass of bubbling champagne and decadent chocolates we received at the end of our treatments was the perfect end to a truly rewarding day spa experience.

BEST FOR: A Quiet Retreat - Elemis Day Spa: Mayfair, London. www.elemis.com

Elemis Day Spa

Tucked away in the heart of Mayfair, in a historic courtyard is Elemis’ flagship day-spa. With most other spa’s choosing to use Elemis products in their treatments, you know you are in good hands when you visit this tranquil sanctuary. This year Elemis celebrates 10 years of spa excellence offering award-winning face and body spa-therapies with a menu of over 30 treatments and a loyal following of clients, celebrities and journalists. To mark the day spa’s 10th anniversary, Elemis have launched the NEW Total Face and Body Polish exclusive at the day-spa from September (55 mins/£85).  This treatment ensures your body is beautifully polished, nourished and massaged followed by a prescribed advanced anti-ageing facial. You start with some body brushing to stimulate blood circulation and increase the absorption of Essential Oils into the system whilst warming the body’s outer dermis layer.

Then you are sensually drenched in Japanese Camellia Oil and buffed with New Tranquil Touch Body Polish and cocooned in a warm wrap. This is a great way to encourage a smooth skin tone and boost lymphatic drainage before summer. Whilst the active ingredients do their magical work exfoliating, you are treated to either a Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing or Visible Brilliance Facial. I had the Tri-Enzyme facial because my skin was looking dull and lacking in radiance. The enzymes work to eat away at any dead skin cells to reveal fresh, glowing skin that is clear and bright. Whilst the facial mask was actively working, I was treated to a Neck and Shoulder Massage. After showering off the body polish with my choice of Elemis shower gels, my wonderful therapist Nicole massaged my beautifully smooth skin with New Pro Collagen Body Cream leaving my skin firm, toned and smooth with a subtle iridescence. With a face massage of Pro-Collagen Marine Cream for perfect dewy skin, I looked and felt a lot more confident to bare my summer body. I left the spa feeling great; my body replenished and skin visibly glowing. It is clear why Elemis are the go to brand for spa therapy, lets hope they continue for 10 more years!

BEST FOR: A Luxurious and Relaxing Getaway - Carey’s Manor Hotel and SenSpa: New Forest, Hampshire. www.senspa.co.uk

Careys Manor

Voted ‘Hotel Spa of the Year’ by the British Beauty Awards, Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa is the perfect place to indulge in overnight pure relaxation. This four star country house manor hotel offers outstanding facilities and is a great base to explore the beautiful New Forest surroundings. The world class spa facilities make the SenSpa an area of true indulgence for you and your loved ones. Relieve and relax your muscles in the hydrotherapy pool, detox and de-stress in the Herbal sauna and Amethyst crystal steam room, energise in the Jacuzzi and be entertained in the experience showers. For those who cannot cope with intense heat, the less intense thermal Laconicum room is a brilliant addition and the Tepidarium is a brilliant place to relax on heated tiled loungers in between treatments and activities. I highly recommend the Hot Stone Harmony Massage (£90), 60 minutes of pure bliss where the volcanic Basalt stones are pressed on the muscle allowing the heat to penetrate deep into the muscles, releasing tension. This nurturing treatment will leave you with a deeper sensation of relaxation, health and overall well-being.

SenSpa

Conveniently located approximately an hour and a half from London and with three restaurants, Careys Manor Hotel is beautiful in itself. The luxurious rooms and picturesque setting offers the most lovely environment to let your stresses fall away. The food served in the award winning Manor restaurant shows why it was worth the two AA rosettes it has been bestowed. Asparagus and Garden Salad Risotto with Wild Garlic Emulsion for starter along with the equally exquisite Roast Pigeon. Main courses of Lobster and Veal were brilliantly executed and I fell in love with the Banana, White Chocolate and Peanut Bread Pudding served with Bitter Chocolate Ice Cream for dessert. This wonderfully serene retreat offers flawless service, beautifully relaxing facilities and a timeless elegance that you wouldn’t find in the centre of London. Delicious dining, soothing spa facilities and world-class comfort will have me returning to Careys Manor repeatedly. I cannot wait until my next visit!
